How about a little color in your world?

I’ve been visiting the posts at 320 Sycamore’s Paint Party

I noticed that many people are using similar colors in their homes.  Colors I’ve loved too!  Recently though, I took the plunge and went for brighter, happier colors in my home.  I’m so pleased with the results!  I never realized just how much a change of paint can do for the feel of a room!

My living and dining rooms were painted a neutral beige.  In fact the entire house was beige!  At first I thought I would go for a beachy theme. You know, sand and sea.

But what is a beach without some SUN?  My rooms looked like it might be raining everyday!

The metal blinds between these big front windows didn’t help either.

It always seemed dark in here…

I decided, thanks to Kim at DearDaisyCottage, to get out the paint and ladder and go for happy!

The color I chose is Lively Yellow from Behr. It’s light or bright depending on where the sun is during the day. I am so pleased with the change!  Just walking in to these rooms makes me smile!  I took the blinds out and made some white sheet mistreatments for the windows.  I still want to dress those up a little.  I spray painted my dining room chairs red too.  I’m loving the red and yellow together!

So what do you think?  Should I paint my hutch and armoire white?  Got any other ideas?  I am a LONG way from Daisy Cottage, but Kim has given me so much inspiration!  Thanks Kim!

ALL of my accessories came from garage sales or thrift stores!  Once you know your colors you can spot things right away!

I’ve really been having fun coloring my house.  Don’t be afraid to venture away from beige and try something new!  You might just like it better!  I sure do!

Hope you have a beautiful weekend!

Blessings,  Kathi

  1. Yellow is such a vibrant happy color. Who isn't in a better mood when they enter a yellow room? I have it in both my kitchen and bedroom. Makes me smile. I like yours. A very nice shade of yellow.

  2. I love the new color, Kathi. Definitely cheerier and your accessories are all fabulous! I was also inspired by Kim. Even though I'm more of a "pastel person," I fell madly in love with her cute office with red walls, and black, white and apple green accessories so I painted my bedroom red, used black & white damask bedding, and apple green accents. :)

  4. I LOOOOOOVE what you have done with the paint, sweetpea!! What a difference. Too many people go with "safe" colors, which usually means some sort of shad of beige. Not me! I go all out and do pink in my home. You can see pictures of it on my website. The laundry room will be pink very soon also. Still more rooms to go but I do them as I can "afford the energy." But the yellow and red make it look lively and the window treatments are exactly what I would have done. What a difference you made in that area, sugar! Great.
